The following admission information is for families interested in enrollment for Fall 2008.

Please note that the Toddler Program (Ages 18 months to 3 years) has a rolling admission policy.  In this program, applications are accepted and enrollment offered in almost every month of the year.

Inquiry: Please click here to complete an inquiry form.  You will receive a packet of information from St. Alcuin within 10 business days.  Be sure to call and register for a Prospective Parent Meeting. This meeting includes information about our philosophy of education, demonstration lessons, a tour of the school, and classroom observations. It is highly recommended to attend one of these meetings prior to submitting an application.

Application: Complete and send in with $100 non-refundable fee.  The receipt of your application will be acknowledged by letter.

Interview: The Director of Admission will call for a family interview with both parents and children.  Interviews will be scheduled for January, February and March.  The interview lasts about 45 minutes and consists of a discussion about the school and the Montessori philosophy.

The toddler child will stay with the parents during the interview process.
The primary child ages 3 to 4 1/2 by August 15 will also stay with parents during the interview process.
The primary child ages 4 1/2 years or older by August 15 will be invited to work in a classroom with a teacher while the parents remain with the Director of Admission.
All primary children will attend the Primary Group Interview on Saturday, February 23, 2008.

Elementary and middle school children will spend at least a day visiting a classroom as well as meeting with a division director for assessment.

Acceptance: Acceptance of a child is based on several factors, one of which is a successful match of the family's and the school's educational goals for the child.  Siblings of present qualifying students and children transferring from other Montessori schools are given priority.  New applicants are admitted for the remaining spaces, while maintaining gender and age balance within the classrooms.  Evaluations, test scores or grades from the child's recent school, if applicable, also play an important part in the selection process.  Each application is reviewed by the Admission Committee.  The first notification of acceptance takes place the 14th of March.  Accompanying the acceptance letter is an Enrollment Contract which must be mailed to the school with a non-refundable tuition deposit within two weeks.

Waiting Pool: Applicants who have been accepted for all reasons other than space availability will be placed in our waiting pool.  Families will be notified when a place becomes available.

Admission Policy

The St. Alcuin Montessori School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, nationality or ethnic origin in its admissions, availability of program and the administration of any of its policies or programs.  Admissions are based upon the space available and an evaluation of the suitability of St. Alcuin Montessori School for each student.
