Middle School students enjoy high interest, academically challenging experiences, in a uniquely-involved, multi-age classroom. The Middle School is guided by the core values of the Montessori approach, and the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP). This combination of unique philosophies and internationally recognized academic standards, offers an environment in which the middle school student can grow in knowledge and personal responsibility.
The Middle School provides intellectual challenge in a community of respect, service and empathy. Middle School students prepare lunches for the middle school community, plan and organize their own educational trips, and perform various acts of service throughout the broader community. There is an extensive focus on study skills throughout the program.
Middle School students enjoy a number of educational travel experiences to enhance their knowledge of outdoor education, cultural literacy, world geography, and Spanish immersion. In recent years, students have enjoyed backpacking and canoeing in Big Bend National Park, toured Washington D.C. to experience our national history and developed their Spanish language skills in visits to Cuernavaca, San Miguel, and Michoacan, Mexico.
